Paper cites dubious acts in Sheriff's Office

Documents in an employment dispute between a Yellowstone County sheriff’s deputy and his commanders have revealed previously undisclosed incidents of questionable behavior and management practices in the department.According to documents obtained by The Billings Gazette, examples include a commander whose gun was lost after he drove off with it on the roof of his patrol car and a deputy who showed up for training with alcohol on his breath.
Also, federal agents learned that a deputy coroner and his intern were using a confidential criminal justice database to look up suspects and witnesses in a gun case, and a detective suspected of drug abuse was driven in a county car to a treatment facility in Minnesota.
